One per line. 0 domains so far.

How it works

  1. Paste up to 20 domains, one per line. Put your own first.

  2. We look up each one's Open PageRank: a score built from Common Crawl's map of links between websites.

  3. You get a table sorted by score, with how each compares to yours, its count of linking domains and its worldwide rank. Download it as CSV.

What a website authority score is, and isn't

Search engines treat links from other sites as a sign that a site is worth visiting. Google's original PageRank was a way of measuring that: a link from a well-linked site counts for more than a link from an obscure one. Google stopped showing PageRank publicly in 2016, and its current link signals are private.

So every website authority score you'll find, including this one, is an outside estimate. Open PageRank is a free, open score that applies a PageRank-style calculation to Common Crawl, a public crawl of billions of web pages. Moz's Domain Authority (DA), Ahrefs' Domain Rating (DR) and Semrush's Authority Score are other companies' versions, built from their own crawls and formulas. That's why the same site gets different numbers from each, and why none of them is a number Google uses.

This tool shows Open PageRank's score under its own name. It isn't DA or DR, and it won't match them.

How to use the comparison

Authority scores are most useful relative to each other: you against the sites that rank for the searches you want. If every competitor on page 1 scores two points above you, links are probably part of what's holding you back. If you're level with them, look at your content first.

The table also shows linking domains: an estimate of how many different websites link to each one, weighted by quality, so it reads lower than raw counts elsewhere. A site with many linking domains and a modest score is linked from lots of small sites; a high score from fewer linking domains usually means a few very strong ones.

Use it to vet partners too. If a site selling guest posts claims to be an authority, a score far below its peers is worth a second look, alongside its traffic and the quality of what it publishes.

Common mistakes with authority metrics

  • Chasing the number. Buying links to raise a score is against Google's spam policies, and the score was never what ranks you.
  • Comparing across tools. A 4 here and a 40 somewhere else describe different scales.
  • Reading small changes. Data refreshes monthly; a move of a few hundredths is noise.
  • Judging a page by its domain. A strong domain with a weak page on your topic is still a weak result for that search.

What this checker can't see

Open PageRank is calculated from Common Crawl, which doesn't crawl every page on the web, and updates monthly. New sites, sites that block crawlers, and recent links may be missing. A domain that's "not in the data" isn't necessarily weak, just not well covered yet.

It also scores whole domains, not pages, and it doesn't judge whether links are natural or spammy. For your own site, the links report in Google Search Console shows which sites Google itself has found linking to you.

Questions people ask

Is Open PageRank the same as Google PageRank?

No. It applies a similar idea to public crawl data. Google's own PageRank scores are private and haven't been shown publicly since 2016.

Why is my score different from my Domain Authority or Domain Rating?

Each company crawls the web differently and uses its own formula and scale. Compare sites within one tool, never a number from one tool with a number from another.

What's a good website authority score?

There's no fixed target. What matters is how you compare with the sites ranking for your searches. Put them in the list next to yours.

How often does the data update?

Open PageRank publishes a new release roughly once a month, following Common Crawl's releases.

Is this website authority checker free?

Yes. No signup, up to 20 domains per check.
